However, sometimes it seems so much like a fantasy that it over shadows reality. Infatuation is very superficial and cannot be mistaken with more valid, substantial emotions. It could be love, it could be lust, or it could be desperation, but in any form it can make you feel so strongly for someone that you think you can't live without them. You can be so strongly infatuated with someone that it puts you in a state of "delusion". Sadly, the feelings are not always mutual and the relationship will reach a point at which one person is over it. These situations are ugly, because no one wants to be the bad guy and tell the other person that they have been dismissed. When this happens, it's not a clean break and there lies a pitiful soul left in the dark to look like a sad, desperate mess chasing after someone who's clearly moved on.

The misunderstanding could come from one of two places:

1) either someone is being MISLED and lied to; or

2) someone doesn't want to accept the truth and realize that their dream man ISN'T THAT INTO THEM AFTER ALL.

Either way, reality needs to become a factor. If it doesn't, these situations could be detrimental to your SELF-ESTEEM.

The best way to gauge a scenario like this is by trusting your instincts. If you realize that you're always the person reaching out and checking on them, unfortunately, you've most likely been replaced. Another way is to confer with someone close to you. Usually that person has been paying attention and ready to tell you to let go because they care about your well-being.

Healthy relationships, whether friendly or romantic, are reciprocal. They are 100/100, not 50/50. If you feel like you're in it alone, you probable are. Chances are he has a new boo, so do yourself a favor: wish him well and move on. You can't keep someone who doesn't want to be kept, so save face now. You'll be so happy you did.
